Software Quality Analyst

Job Summary

Software Quality Analyst assures application software is working as designed by planning and creating test scenarios, identifying, and documenting failures, assisting in root cause analysis of failures, as well as assisting with the design and development of issue resolutions.



Essential Functions:
  • Understand software application project scope and business needs
  • Understand project requirements, test approach, and test scope
  • Create and plan test scenarios from requirements and designs documentation  
  • Create test scenarios from functional artifacts
  • Execute test scenarios
  • Identify and report defects
  • Execute tests as scheduled, validate, and document results (including actual and expected outcomes)
  • Assist in identifying data requirements and dependencies for testing
  • Assist with environment and data maintenance and compliance with quality control processes
  • Generate and maintain test documentation and issue validation progress / results
  • Exhibit strong communication skills using good judgment on level of detail for the audience
  • Bring clarity to team communications through strong writing skills
  • Support and enforce good release management and defect practices
  • Communicate with remote team members, including offshore team members and clients
  • Assist in scheduling test activities 


Other Functions:
  • Follow company procedures and security practices
  • Present, attend and participate in BTM meetings and training opportunities as required
  • May perform other job-related duties as assigned



Education and Experience, and Other Skills:
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in testing software (application functionality)
  • Experience working in retail store setting such grocery store, convenience store, etc.
  • Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Quickly learns application software features and functions
  • Must be organized, have an eye for detail, and be able to put ideas into a tangible form
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Point of Service/Stores application is a plus (Oracle Retail ideal)
  • Issue tracking tool experience
  • Experience writing queries a plus
  • Microsoft Office
  • Suite tools
  • Collaboration tools (Team, SharePoint, etc.)
